2014 saw the rise of artists and the fall of some. After publishing our #2014REVIEW: Top 10 Ghanaian Artists Who Failed To Make Hits This Year, we thought it fitting to feature the artists who rose to shine this year. Enjoy the list below:
2014 saw Wiyaala winning a lot including performing on huge shows, successful collaborations with Jupitar and hit songs, Rock My Body, Go Go Go Black Stars, to mention but few which won her an Afrima award.
Kalybos whose birth name is Richard Asante went home with the much coveted Favorite actor at the just ended Ghana Movie Awards. Kalybos who is a student at NAFTI is the main character in one of the most watched comedy series dubbed Boys Kasa. His rise to fame has gotten him a lot of recognition and he is now the face for giant telecommunication network, Airtel Ghana. He is loved by many especially with his the only boss with one s theme.
Pappy Kojo who came after Joey B even seemed to be making more headway. After releasing a couple of songs independently, no one really cared about him until collaborating with Joey B on Wave, which brought him to the limelight with his street anthem, Realer NO. Pappy Kojo also featured Joey B on Realer NO and the term has taken Ghanaian street fans by storm, launching his biggest single ever.
Vybrant Faya started long ago but this year has been able to put him on roll.. With more successful singles like Mampi, it is easy to tell that Vybrant Faya really came to the limelight in 2014.
Probably this year has been his best ever since he started comedy. Signed to Xcess group by the man himself Pharuk Jbreal, Ajeezay has had an amazing run this year. His jokes at various campuses have increased his fan base and his Letter to celebrities are at least well publicized songs and creating dedicated fan bases, the height of his career this year is on Give It To Apor and Angwamo ft Sarkodie where Ajeezay took these jokes by hand and led them right to hits.
Kalybos’ act Ahuofe Patri really burst into the spotlight this year with her on-set collaboration with Kalybos. The Boys Kasa series comes complete with the featuring of Ahuofe Patri. Since their first collaborations, Ghanaians have been hooked with their faces which also inspired more concepts from them. Here’s to hoping they will be able to catch out attention with more funny short movies.
